Near Sunsight is a co-production of historic imagination constructed by speculative reptile vision and cognition evolution.

As reptiles surfaced over the oceans some 350 millions ago, they open an eye to a first sight. Near Sunsight is an attempt at that imaginary scene of inhuman vision. It is developed using a neural network trained with optical and illustrative data accumulated from historical records of evolutionary hypothesis. The resulting moving images are then shot in a studio setting using robotic arms which movements resemble reptile head sagging and bobbling.

The soundtrack is constructed from the whirring noises of the motion of the robotic arms, and composed and codified field sounds from sand dunes currents. Similar to the average time the sun takes to poke by a horizon, Near Sunsight is exhibited as a dwarf natural or science museum diorama in 3.5 min renewed intervals.
